The Wensleydale Creamery, at Hawes, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, raised nearly £900 for a breast cancer charity during Wear it Pink Day.
Big-hearted staff at the Creamery’s visitor centre staged a fundraising day on Friday, October 28, to boost the Breast Cancer Campaign.
Employees raised the cash by wearing pink clothes for the day and donating their tips from collection buckets. Pink caramel shortbread cakes were prepared by Wensleydale Creamery’s baker, which were sold in the 1897 coffee shop to raise funds.
A “Pampered Chef” evening was also held earlier in the week. Staff were treated to a cookery demonstration from an experienced chef and were then able to buy the utensils they had seen in use, raising around £300 for the good cause.
By the end of Wear it Pink day the staff had raised a grand total of £895.51 for the cancer charity.
David Hartley, the Wensleydale Creamery’s managing director, said the visitor centre staff deserved a huge well done for their fundraising efforts.
He said: “The day was great fun for everyone involved and I am really proud of the efforts that staff put in. “Here at Wensleydale Creamery we are always delighted to throw our weight behind a great cause – and Wear it Pink Day is just that.
“The £900 raised is a fantastic sum and all those involved should be proud of their achievement.
“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who made a donation to make this fundraiser such a success.”
